Kyra Women’s Project founder and first CEO, Yvonne Copley, has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list 2022 for services to women and the community in York. Yvonne created Kyra with a group of volunteers in 2013, and led the organisation until she retired as CEO in September 2020.

Natalie McMillan, Chair of Trustees of the charity, has said: “Yvonne created Kyra and her influence on it has been immense. With her team of dedicated volunteers and project leaders, she has built up the services and membership of the charity to achieve the great success it now enjoys. She has also created the good reputation of Kyra not only amongst members, but amongst many other local charities and organisations.

The Board would like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication over the seven years that she led the organisation.”

Kyra staff and volunteers are all delighted that Yvonne has been recognised in this way: a well-deserved tribute to her vision and dedication to Kyra.
