The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr David Carr, was at Kyra this week to open our International Women’s Day event. Accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, the Lord Mayor toured the exhibition of charity and business stands, and met Kyra volunteers and members. In his opening words, the Lord Mayor spoke warmly of the work of the charity and particularly the difference it makes in women’s lives. He quoted one member who said that Kyra had saved her from being house-bound, and had improved not only her life, but that of her family and children.

Rosemary Cook, CEO of Kyra, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Civic Party to our event. We had a great day, with lots of people coming in to visit us and sample Kyra’s activities, which aim to support women making positive changes to their lives. We were also pleased to have some of our Ambassador organisations present with stands, including The Hearing Place and Indigo Greens estate agents. They do great work signposting their clients, customers and colleagues to Kyra when they need support.”

If you need help from Kyra, go to our Home page and book in for an enrolment appointment.
