Full Job Description HERE
Part-time (15 hours/week) | £30,000 FTE | Permanent
Based in York (St Saviourgate) with some home-working
This post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1
Are you a finance professional who’s passionate about making a difference? Do you enjoy combining number-crunching with purposeful work? Kyra Women’s Project is looking for a dedicated and detail-focused Finance and Operations Manager to join our small, committed team.
Kyra is York’s only independent women’s charity dedicated to self-development and wellbeing. We bring together women from all walks of life who may be feeling isolated, vulnerable or simply seeking connection and growth. Run by women, for women, we’re proud of our warm, inclusive, and supportive community.
This role is a brilliant opportunity to work at the heart of a values-led charity, playing a key part in ensuring our financial health and operational stability. You’ll be a vital partner to our CEO and Board of Trustees—enabling them to focus on strategy and sustainability, while you provide oversight on everything from budgeting and reporting to payroll and process improvement.
You’ll be supported by a part-time Finance & Operations Officer, and will line-manage and collaborate with them to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
What you’ll be doing:
• Leading on day-to-day financial management and reporting
• Managing budgeting, payroll, and cashflow
• Tracking and reporting on restricted and unrestricted funds
• Preparing SORP-compliant annual accounts and financial reports for funders and the Board
• Supporting HR processes, contracts and onboarding
• Overseeing operational systems, governance and compliance
• Improving processes and strengthening back-office efficiency
Who we’re looking for:
• A solid background in finance, bookkeeping and payroll
• Experience using accounting software (we use Xero)
• Understanding of charity finance and the Charity SORP (or a willingness to learn)
• Experience managing restricted funds and funder reporting
• Great attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• A proactive, collaborative approach—you’re not afraid to get stuck in
• Confidence working independently and hitting the ground running
Why join Kyra?
• Purposeful work in a women-centred organisation
• A supportive and flexible working environment
• A chance to shape and strengthen a small, impactful charity
• 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
• An extra day off for your birthday
• 3% employer pension contribution
• Flexibility around working hours and some home working
• A commitment to fair pay—we are a Real Living Wage employer, and we regularly review salaries to reflect responsibility and market rates within our means as a small charity
