What Are Habits, Goals, and Vision?
Habits are the mental shortcuts we rely on to simplify our daily lives. From brushing our teeth to making a morning cup of tea, habits allow us to save mental energy for more complex tasks. In fact, 43% of everyday actions are performed habitually while we focus on other, more important things.
Goals, on the other hand, are our destination—where we want to go. By comparison, habits are the smaller steps that help us get there. For instance, training for a 10k is a goal that requires running regularly. Without that consistent habit of your morning jog, it would be hard to achieve your goal of completing the 10k.
Vision ties it all together. It’s the bigger picture—a clear idea of what you want your life to look like and the values that drive your choices. Vision helps guide both your goals and habits, giving them purpose and direction.
What the Workshop Covers
In the workshop, members learn to identify habits—whether unnoticed, deliberate, or unhelpful—and explore tools like habit reversal training to tackle challenges like procrastination or nail-biting. This is a behavioral technique that helps participants recognise triggers for unwanted habits and replace them with healthier, competing responses, such as relaxation techniques or alternative actions.
Goal setting is another key focus. Using SMART goals and SOLO analysis, members explore their strengths, limitations, and opportunities to create actionable plans. Change doesn’t happen overnight—it takes consistency and structure, especially considering it can take 66 days for a new behaviour to become automatic. This workshop is designed to help participants stay motivated and on track during this journey.
Our workshop also introduces practical tools for building vision and focus, such as:
- The Eisenhower Matrix: Prioritises tasks by urgency and importance.
- Time Management Strategies: Introduces planners to align time with goals.
- Growth Mindset: Encourages motivation by shifting from a fixed to a growth mindset.
