Kyra is thrilled to celebrate ROSE group member Kit Taylor, who has been recognised as a winner in the prestigious Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 awards.

About the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100

The Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 celebrates the UK’s most influential disabled individuals, showcasing their achievements and challenging perceptions.

With a mission to tackle the disability employment gap and amplify disabled voices, the award recognises leaders like Kit Taylor, whose work in advocacy and journalism is driving meaningful change and inspiring others.

Kit’s Impactful Work in Journalism and Media

Kit Taylor’s journalism has spotlighted critical disability issues on national platforms like BBC, Sky, and ITV, addressing topics such as the cost-of-living crisis and societal attitudes toward disability. Their collaboration with Scope on the ‘Let’s Play Fair’ campaign led to improved playground accessibility and government acknowledgment of the issue.

A passionate advocate for diversity in media, Kit is a fellow of the John Schofield Trust and chairs a subcommittee of the Disability in Journalism forum, working to make newsrooms more inclusive. They’ve also guest judged international film festivals, focusing on improving representation in film and television, furthering their mission to create a media landscape that accurately reflects the diversity of the disabled community.

Beyond journalism, Kit serves on the BBC Children in Need advisory board, using their expertise in youth issues like mental health and education to drive impactful projects. They also volunteer as a photographer and videographer, empowering small charities to reach broader audiences and secure vital funding.
