On a sweltering day when temperatures reached over 30 degrees in York, the Kyra dragon boat crew donned their 1980s fitness costumes and took to the River Ouse. Battling valiantly through three heats (and with the heat!), they not only gave the other boats a run for their money, they also raised a huge sum of money for Kyra. The target of £2500 was passed on the day, and with proud families and friends still donating, we are now aiming to top £3000 by the time fundraising closes.

Our crew included someone with TWO Blue Peter badges, an ex-member of the shooting team of the Territorial Army and someone who claims that a baboon once stepped on her chocolate cake – possibly making ours the most interesting, if not the fastest, boat on the river that day!

If you can add to the team’s fundraising efforts, please donate via Rotary Club of York Charity Fund: The Kyra Crew (enthuse.com) . Thank you!
