Kyra’s Founder, Yvonne Copley, yesterday received her MBE medal from His Majesty King Charles. Yvonne’s wonderful service to the women of York in creating the Kyra Women’s Project charity in 2013 was recognised in the Honours list last year but because of the Covid backlog, she has waited some time to attend the investiture. She shared ‘a wonderful day’ at the event with her husband David and grandchildren (pictured).

Rosemary Cook, CEO of Kyra, said: “It is lovely to see Yvonne receive this well-deserved Honour in the week that we have celebrated Kyra’s 9th birthday! 2023 will mark the 10th anniversary of the charity, and happily Yvonne has agreed to take part in the planned celebratory events – Kyra wouldn’t exist without her dedication and effort, and that of the original band of volunteers. It will be lovely to celebrate next year with them all.’
