Thanks to funding from the Guildhall Ward and the hard work of volunteer teams from Benenden and Aviva, the Kyra courtyard space has been transformed over the last two days!
The courtyard belongs to the Central Methodist Church and Kyra looks after it so that our members can have a pleasant outdoor space to retreat to, and to help maintain through our gardening group. It has been neglected recently due to roofing work on the Church – but two groups of volunteers from local businesses have changed all that. Coordinated by York Cares, the two teams have built new furniture, moved planters, removed dead plants, put up screening and planted LOTS of new bedding plants and herbs. The herbs will be used by Kyra’s cookery group as they practise making healthy, cost-efficient meals.
We are very grateful to the Guildhall Ward, and to the sterling volunteers from Benenden and Aviva, for making this transformation happen!
