Thanks to the players of the Postcode Lottery, and the generosity of the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, Kyra has received more than £18,000 to employ a part-time volunteer coordinator for around 18 months.

Kyra relies on its team of around 50 volunteers to deliver most of its services – without them, there would almost no activities, courses or support available to our members. Our volunteers contribute 78 hours of volunteering in an average week – that’s over 4,000 hours/year. If they were paid at the Real Living Wage, that would be over £43,500 worth of work which they provide free to Kyra!

But recruiting, training, inducting, deploying and supporting these fantastic people takes a lot of time and dedication. By employing someone to grow and look after the team, we will be able to continue our services to members and even increase the number of activities we can offer.

Next year’s 10th anniversary of Kyra is likely to bring even more demands for our services – this funding could not have come at a better time to make sure that we have the team in place to help even more women make positive changes in their lives.

Postcode Neighbourhood Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. See www.postcodeneighbourhoodtrust.org.uk
